The Post office sign above was taken from the photograph of the Hunter Store when it faced Russell Street. It appears that even though the store was run by Andrew Douglas HUNTER, the position of Postmaster at the time was Alexander MACKAY.

The Glasgow Telephone Company

External view of Moffat house where Laura and Belle Moffat operated the local telephone switchboard. William MOFFAT had married Marion CARLYLE and they had Bell who died 16 June 1938, George who married Agnes MARCELLUS,  Marion Jean who married Simeon B. CASSELMAN in 1906 and died 24 August 1967, Kate who married James Wilburn MARCELLUS [whose daughter was Marion], Thomas,Morton who died as a young man, and Laura who was born 25 Feb 1890 and died 27 Sept 1970.
